The beginning of the trip!

Well, we did it! A large van with 13 of us (with bag and baggage)left for D.C. in a Michigan blizzard on January 17th. We arrived Sunday afternoon and continued the adventure. All of the kids had a marvelous time---it was cold, about 12-15 degrees most of the time---but it had been sub-zero at home for at least 10 days before we left, so we were able to endure the weather easier than a lot of others!

The darling OBAMA hats were a christmas gift from Jo-ellen to all of the kids. They were happy to save them until we went to Washington---and we were able to find all of them before leaving!

The pictures we were able to take give look at the fun we had. All of our kids were great during the entire trip! They loved the metro, the bus tours, the happy, happy crowds of people and were open to trying various new foods.

All in all, it was a lot of work but Pete and I would do it again in a minute!

Thanks to our wonderful babysitters, Christina and Jeanine; and the help of John and Kayla, it was a much easier trip with all the big hands for our little ones to hold---in lines, on the street, etc!

We arrived home late, late Wednesday night --- with many, many happy memories!
